Center for Early Head Start
The Texas Tech University Center for Early Head Start program (CEHS) is an initiative of the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences in the College of Human Sciences.
CEHS is a federally funded program that provides continuous and comprehensive child development and family support services to approximately 100 Lubbock families with children from 0-3 years. CEHS offers year-round, full-day childcare, home visits to pregnant mothers and young families, hot nutritious meals, developmental and health screening, and parent education and support to qualifying families at no cost to them through federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services.
The goals of this program include enhancing the physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth and development of participating children as well as responding to the familys needs by promoting positive adult child interactions, and striving to support caregivers in their parenting role.
CEHS Mission
The mission of Texas Tech University Center for Early Head Start is to promote school readiness by nurturing the physical, emotional, social, language, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers; develop and strengthen families' abilities as primary educators of their children; and serve as advocates for children and families in a program that is supported by and supportive of state-of-the-art research.

How do I apply?
The Center for Early Head Start accepts pregnant women and children from birth six weeks to three years of age, and all Center for Early Head Start services are free to those who meet income and eligibility guidelines. Learn more »
