Daniel Taylor is an assistant professor of supply chain management at the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University. He completed his PhD in business administration at The Ohio State University.

His primary research interests include retail logistics, omnichannel fulfillment and inventory flexibility. He has published in the International Journal of Logistics Management and in Supply Chain Management Review. He has presented twelve conference papers and has participated on four practitioner panels.

Prior to pursuing academia, he was a project manager implementing systems and software projects for dedicated and omnichannel distribution centers. He served seven years in the U.S. Air Force as an engineer prior to working for industry.

At Texas Tech, Taylor is the faculty advisor to the Tech Supply Chain Association (TSCA), the supply chain major's student organization. He has taught Forecasting and Inventory Management, Business Process Improvement, Transportation and Distribution Management and Supply Chain Management at Texas Tech. When teaching difficult analysis techniques necessitated by many supply chain management subjects, his approach is to assign challenging problems, provide tools and, ultimately, expect the students to struggle and feel challenged. He believes firmly exertion is essential to education. Key course objectives are learned through frequent mentoring and supplementary provided opportunities tailored for each class to allow students to rebound from initial setbacks.
